The Shawnee National Forest Military Family Recreational Outing

On Saturday January 18th, 2013, The Fight Continues joined up with the Bike Surgeon for the recreational outing for Vetearns and Military Families in the Shawnee National Forest. Our Veterans and Military Families participated in a hike that went threw the Shawnee National Forest. We also stopped along the way to do Yogo in a valley under a 100 foot cliff. It was an extremely beautiful scenic view that our Veterans, Military Families and Staff enjoyed together. As our outing progressed each view became more spectacular and relaxing. Spring fed creeks with crystal clear water and sounds of nature that you wouldn’t hear anywhere else. It was a time to be at peace and let all your worries slip away. Our guides cooked us tomato soup and grilled cheese halfway through the hike, and I must say whether it was just being hungry or it being a bit chili, the food hit the spot. After the hike, we went to Blue Sky Vineyard and everyone who wanted/allowed to toped the night of with a few glasses of wine. It was a great outing to which, I see plenty more in the future during the summer months. We want to extend our thanks to not only the Bike Surgeon, but to our guides who lead the way through the National Forest.

Thank you to Bo McCall.
